Ojo Estudiante!

. . . of the rest of our lives. Have I kept you in enough suspense. If so, good and if not, well that is your fault. (Southern accent placed here) I bet your head is a itching and your brain is a smokin' from all the confusion of the title. (Accent over) 

Well let me assure you that you have not been abducted and taken to Mexico but you are safe and sound in your footy pajamas. The title just goes along with what we are doing this year. It means, in Spanish, take note students. I mean come on, would you have really started reading this article with plain old English. NO! So why not spice up your humdrum life. 

Speaking of life spice, now doesn't that sound good to you, I mean who doesn't want to add a little life spice to their life. Sorry, saw a shiny light and got distracted. Life spice, the life spice of this week was the remaining internship reports given by our very own talented seniors. Awww, there is Alexis our strong as an ox, fearless ASID leader in her very stylish glasses. You wish you were her, don't you? Now place that finger where ever you usually put it and scroll through these captured moments of time and enjoy. I might stop you and tell you more, so stay tuned.

BANG!!!! (Gun going off) "And they're off!" (Announcer states) Coming around the first corner we have Kara and Catherine in the lead! Not to far behind them we have Marie and Katie! What's this! Stephanie Keeler is right on their heels! The others better catch up!

Ok, was the horse race theme to cheesy? Well, it did bring a sense of heart pounding excitement into this story. Our remaining sophisticated seniors goes as follows: Alexis, Courtney, Kimberly (not Kim), Valene and then we were rudely interrupted by the most annoying bells ever in the MC. Did you know that every hour and at certain times before the hour, the MC building plays these really obnoxious bells that do not stop for 15 minutes! I mean, who do they think they are. Ok, ok. Now that I have that off my chest I will continue with the list. We have Elizabeth, Tania, Ty, Laura, Rachel, Samantha, Jessa, Alyce, and coming from the rear we have Kevin Anderson. 

 

All in all, we had a pretty inspiring meeting. Who wouldn't want to be us now that they have seen all the glorious jobs we have done like cleaning and organizing fabrics. Senior's Excellent Adventures

Monday, Sept.19, 2011 was the beginning of this years cross country race to knowledge. Like any race there are some ground rules that we set and that we must abide by this year. This year is going to knock your socks off because we have a lot in store. I know it sounds like everyone else every year, but this one is different, trust me. What are those ground rules you ask? I will tell you. We abide by one rule this year and that is to open your eyes and be inspired. What was that again. Maybe you didn't hear me. I said: "OPEN YOUR EYES AND BE INSPIRED!" With this years rule of life established we can hop into our sneakers and in the words of Woody, "run like the wind bullseye!"

 

 

 Every good designer apparently needs these ostentatious glasses. "Look ma, we finally fit in." My favorite are the sparkly ones. As seniors, we decided to take our pictures to represent the designers of the past, because everyone knows we are the great ones of the future. 

The meeting began like every year, the introduction to the amazing, fantastic and holistic ASID and NKBA board members. If you didn't know what holistic means, I will TELL you, calm down. It means emphasizing the importance of the whole and the interdependence of its parts. There you go, you can get a paper bag and breathe. Now that we have that out of the way, on to the amazing adventures of the seniors.

 

The seniors were so stinking amazing and had so much drama to tell you, we had to separate it in two parts just like the last Harry Potter and Twilight. Those that were sacrificed for the good of the cause this first day of seminar were Melissa, Emily, Jennifer, Arianne, Erin, Rebecca, Peter, Jessica and Kendra. Their experiences were many and their confidence was sure throughout their internship. And yes there were some sharp jagged sticks and rocks along the path and they had dirt rubbed into their wounds, metaphorically speaking of course, but in the end they saw who they really are as a designer and what they truly are able to accomplish when put to the test. These students or should I say designers, have learned a lesson that will determine their success in the future and will follow them throughout the years. Is this the end? Opening Social & Senior Internship Reports 2010

“But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.” Job 32:8

 This year our board decided that we would have a design theme for the year that would be: “Designers Who Know”. This theme was chosen as a way to gain inspiration for our student projects incorporating both scripture and design professional insight.

 

 During the Opening Social seniors shared their internship experiences with both faculty and students. Seniors offered underclassmen helpful advice about obtaining internships for the future. Our seniors were able to work for industry professionals all over the country.

Taken from Alma 32:41, “nourish the tree as it beginneth to grow… and it shall take root; and behold it shall be a tree springing up unto everlasting life.” Students were inspired to nourish their talents, faith, and knowledge so that they too would be able to not only increase their design talents and skills but also build their faith in Jesus Christ.
